Frieda Jean McCallister, 72, of Huntington, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 in St. Mary’s Medical Center.  She was born May 1, 1946 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Edward and Geraldine Marie Haney Meadows.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Rick Meadows.  Frieda retired after 30 years with C & P Telephone and then its’ successor, Frontier Communications.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tom McCallister; two sons and one daughter, Tommy S. McCallister II of Kernersville, NC, John Wayne McCallister (Gina) of Huntington and Kelly A. McCallister France (Mike) of Huntington; one grandson, Thomas Scott McCallister III of Kernersville, NC and two sisters, Nell Erwin and Vicki Hogsett; and brother in law Johnny McCallister.  Private services will be held for the family.  Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is assisting the family.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Big Green Scholarship Fund.
